San Francisco and Monterey Bay Aquarium
We enjoyed another trip to San Francisco on Friday, October 18, 2013; followed by a day in Monterey, CA to visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I'll start with the sunset photos at the Cliffhouse restaurant in San Francisco, since those were some of the best. Also, there's a video of the sea lions playing "king of the hill" in the mix! So funny.

Squaw Valley and Lake Tahoe, CA
We took the opportunity to go to eastern California on October 12-14, 2013. Unfortunately, the national parks were still closed due to the government shutdown. However, we took to the mountains around Lake Tahoe, CA. Our hike was at Squaw Valley (where the 1960 Winter Olympics were held) up to the Shirley Lake trail. Then, the drive south along the west banks of Lake Tahoe are the final photos for the weekend trip.
It's amazing, the beauty and natural diversity that surrounds us so closely! This journey was nostalgic. These photos bring memories of the Olympics held in my native state of Utah. The 2002 Salt Lake Winter Games were not too long ago. How I miss Park City and the Salt Lake City areas. However, we are embracing these other great areas here in and around our new home in California.
